Our Christmas donations

Three charities to benefit from CPL One donations this festive season.

We will be making donations this Christmas to three charities that are close to our hearts.

Abbey People, Mesothelioma UK and the Batemans Trust all do fantastic work that we are pleased to support. We have also again decided not to send physical Christmas cards or gifts to all clients and partners this year – instead donating more money to these important charities.

Abbey People is based in and around the area where our Cambridge office is located. The charity operates targeted local community projects, including running a food hub, supporting access to education and employment, and developing a culture of volunteering in the community. We support employees to volunteer at the food hub, and also carry out some pro bono work for Abbey People, including creating newsletters and an annual report.

This Christmas, our Wellbeing team have again liaised with Abbey People to arrange for our employees to put together two special hampers for families who are struggling with extra financial pressures at this time of year. As always, it has been brilliant to see our team’s response.

Mesothelioma UK supports people with this horrible form of asbestos-related cancer. It’s a charity that is particularly close to the hearts of the team at CPL One as Martin, the husband of our colleague Janette Millan, is living with the condition.

We have held a number of fundraising events for the charity this year and  send our love and best wishes to Martin and Janette, as always.

The Batemans Trust is a small charity that provides education, secure accommodation and welfare for disadvantaged children living in Chennai, South India.

CPL One sponsors Roshini, who had a particularly challenging childhood before joining the girls’ hostel run by Batemans’ sister charity the Satkaarya Trust. We also carry out pro bono work for the charity, writing and designing an annual printed newsletter, and regular enewsletters and other material.

Our managing director, Mike Sewell, explains why we have again made the decision not to send Christmas cards or gifts to clients and partners this year: “We are incredibly grateful to the clients and other partners we have worked with during 2025.

“In the past we have posted cards and gifts to say thank you, but in recent years, we have increasingly questioned whether sending physical gifts to our clients and stakeholders was always the right thing to do. So, for Christmas 2025, we have again decided to give more to these three charities we support as a company.

“We’re sure you will understand why we’re doing this – and if you’re able to support any of these charities by visiting the following website links, we and they would be incredibly grateful.”

Mike adds: “Of course, we also made a special Christmas film as a way of saying thank you. You can watch that here.”
