No job is too small, or too big

Editorial manager Duncan Bradley reflects on CPL One’s work on a big summer event that ticked all the boxes.

Life moves pretty fast, especially when you’re dealing with one of the world’s pre-eminent horseracing and breeding operations.

Over a number of years, CPL One has built a strong bond with Darley, the thoroughbred stallion division of Godolphin, and we are proud to count them as one of our leading clients.

Providing everything from project management and event logistics to photoshoots and branded merchandise, we believe that no job is too small, no project too big.

And so it proved when we were entrusted to work on Darley at Home, a summer spectacle at Dalham Hall Stud attended by some of the biggest names in the business.

Designed to showcase the stallions currently on the breeder’s roster – and one or two potential stars of the future – it demanded months of hard work and planning.

The to-do list was lengthy, including producing hundreds of invitations and promotional material, as well as large-format prints and associated merchandise.

A 32-page brochure to accompany the stallion parade had to be designed and printed (tick), welcome boards produced (tick) and photographers briefed (and tick).

We arranged for everything to be installed and set up ahead of the event, then provided in-person support on the day itself, ensuring everything went smoothly (tick, tick).

On top of this, our team ran an online auction on a bespoke platform we had built for the client, with a nomination right to Night Of Thunder selling for €450,000 (big tick).

To our delight, the event – played out in front of hundreds of people – was a huge success, with lots of positive feedback from attendees and the client.

As ever, it gave us huge satisfaction to see our work featured so prominently, without distracting people from the real focus of the evening: the Darley stallions.

It’s a model that has paid off consistently for us: our aim is always to exceed expectations while delivering projects on time, on budget and on brief.

We’ve been doing it for years and we’ve become pretty good at it, even if we do say so ourselves. But you don’t need to take our word for it.

Barney Webb, head of marketing and sponsorship at Darley Stallions, said: “For more than 10 years, I have had the pleasure of working closely with CPL One across a number of events, and they’ve consistently demonstrated a high level of professionalism and attention to detail.

“They have regularly shown their ability to assist in organising and supporting many of our different hospitality events. They understand the importance of careful planning, clear communication and delivering to a set timeline, while remaining adaptable to the many curveballs we throw at them! They are a reassuring presence to have on any project.

“Their excellent eye for both aesthetics and practicality when designing or installing artwork is regularly showcased. The finish is always of a very high standard and installations are carried out efficiently, with minimal disruption to our horses or venues.

“CPL One combines creativity with sound project management, which is a valuable blend. I would have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending them to anyone seeking a dependable and highly capable design agency.”

We couldn’t have put it better ourselves.
